Trevin Jones vs. Timur Valiev

Round 1 – Neither guy wastes time engaging early. Valiev is aggressive with kicks in the first minute, which seems to make Jones hesitant to close distance now. A question mark quick lands nicely for Valiev. Valiev lands a nice kick to the body followed up a kick high that lands with a knee to the face. Valiev is definitely having success with a mix of combos that are keeping Jones guessing, using an arsenal of kicks and punches. Jones goes down to the mat after a hard kick to the body, and Valiev is pouring it on as Jones turtles up. It was shot after shot after shot, but Jones somehow survives the onslaught in the final minute. Jones manages to get a takedown in the final 20 seconds, and the round ends with him on top. But that easily a dominant round for Valiev 10-8.

Round 2 – They touch gloves at the start. Jones is the aggressor, closing the distance with a combo and then a takedown attempt that fails. Valiev remains in rhythm, just like in the first round. Valiev continues to attack the left side of Jones’ body, throwing another hard kick. Jones now seems comfortable to counter, but he’s struggling to pull the trigger with Valiev’s movement. Out of nowhere Jones lands a big right hook for a knockdown and starts reigning punches until the referee steps in. Wow, what an upset! Jones landed the perfect counter punch he was looking for, and the fight is over!

Carlton Minus vs. Matthew Semelsberger

Round 1 – They touch gloves to begin, and Semelsberger throws a leg kick instantly with Minus answering with a straight right. Semelsberger lands another leg kick that throws Minus off balance. Semelsberger closes the distance with a nice left hook to the body, followed by a flurry of punches, but Minus disengages. Minus is finding success with his right hand, and there’s a cut on Semelsberger’s left eye. Semelsberger throws a nice 1-2 that staggers Minus, follows with a head kick, and he stalks Minus as he backs up. They settle down, though, and Semelsberger keeps finding success landing, although Minus is countering nicely. Semelsberger closes distance with about 80 seconds left, but nothing going. Although both fighters found success, Semelsberger seems to have landed more power shots during the round. He takes it 10-9.

Round 2 – Both men come out throwing jabs in the opening moments, which gives way to an exchange of 1-2 combos. It’s a chess match early as they try to figure each other out. Semelsberger lands a nice combo that backs up Minus. Semelsberger’s corner is encouraging him to put the pressure on. Semelsberger hits the nose on a hard counter right hand that drops minus. Semelsberger pounces, and Minus gives up his back. Semelsberger is working on a choke from the bottom as it becomes a bit of a hand fight. There’s a little bit of stalling from Minus, who’s being smart in dealing with the position. Semelsberger has a body lock, which is preventing Minus from escaping. Finally, though, Minus wins the hand fight and is back to his feet with one minutes remaining. Minus hits one of his best punches, a straight right hand, but Semelsberger fires back with a hard left. Minus finishes well, but the round was all Semelsberger otherwise for another 10-9 in his favor.
