ABU DHABI – Casey Kenney beat Nathaniel Wood with a unanimous decision Saturday on the preliminary card at UFC 254 in Abu Dhabi.
Take a look inside the fight with Kenney, a former LFA champion who won for the third straight time.
Kenney on the fight’s key moment
“I felt him slow down after the beginning, and then I was just trying to push the pressure on him, trying to break him, but he was tough. Just like the last two opponents – those guys were tough. We’re in the business where we’re all tough, but he was extra tough. … I thought I was going to have a little more success in the early rounds taking him down, too, but he was starting to shell up on my shots and that’s where some of those elbows and some of those shots, some of the takedowns were going to come.”
These two are THROWING! 😱
Chins are holding up well through 1️⃣.

Kenney on Wood’s toughness
“I wanted that quick turnaround, and I got everything I asked for. Here we are. Two ‘W’s, two paychecks in a month – you can’t beat that. I knew it was going to be a war. I thought he would try to grapple a little bit more, and I thought I would myself, but I was having fun in there throwing down on the feet. (I) felt like I hit him with some big shots. I thought he was going to go away.”
Kenney on what he wants next
“I’d like to get one more in this year. The bantamweight title is on the line Dec. 12. That’s enough for me to heal up and get a camp in again. Give me another tough guy on Dec. 12 – I know they’re going to probably throw some bantamweight fights on there with the title on the line. It’s right before Christmas, too – my mom deserves something nice this year.”
