Bellator 243 gets Curtis Millender vs. Sabah Homasi added to Aug. 7 lineup

A welterweight fight is on tap for Bellator 243.

Ex-UFC fighters Curtis Millender and Sabah Homasi will square off Aug. 7 at Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, Conn.

Two people with knowledge of the situation informed MMA Junkie of the booking on Thursday but asked to remain anonymous as the promotion has yet to make an official announcement. MMA Fighting was first to report the booking.

Bellator 243 will mark the promotion’s second show since returning from a COVID-19 shutdown.

Millender (18-5 MMA, 3-2 BMMA) was cut from the UFC after back-to-back losses to Elizeu Zaleski dos Santos and Belal Muhammad. He made his Bellator return in January, defeating Moses Murrietta by unanimous decision.

Homasi (13-2 MMA, 2-2 BMMA) was supposed to compete at Bellator 241 in March against Paul Daley, but the event was canceled hours prior to the scheduled start time because of coronavirus concerns. Homasi has won back-to-back fights entering Bellator 243.

Bellator 243 takes place Friday, Aug. 7 at Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, Conn. The main card simulcasts on Paramount Network and DAZN after prelims on MMA Junkie.

With the addition, the Bellator 243 lineup includes:

  • Michael Chandler vs. Benson Henderson
  • Tim Johnson vs. Matt Mitrione
  • Sabah Homasi vs. Curtis Millender
  • Joel Bauman vs. TBA
