Benson Henderson vs. Islam Mamedov among additions to Bellator 273 in Phoenix

Bellator’s first event of 2022 has some new additions to the lineup, including a former UFC champion.

Benson Henderson (28-11 MMA, 5-6 BMMA) is set to take on Islam Mamedov (20-1-1 MMA, 1-0 BMMA) in the lightweight co-main event, the promotion announced Tuesday. In addition, Henry Corrales (19-6 MMA, 7-6 BMMA) will take on Aiden Lee (10-5 MMA, 3-2 BMMA) at featherweight on the main card.

On the prelims, Romero Cotton (5-0 MMA, 5-0 BMMA) meets Dalton Rosta (5-0 MMA, 5-0 BMMA) at middleweight. Plus, Ben Parrish (5-1 MMA, 1-0 BMMA) will take on Sullivan Cauley (2-0 MMA, 2-0 BMMA) at light heavyweight.

Ex-UFC and WEC lightweight champ Henderson has gone more than two years without a win. After back-to-back wins over Adam Piccolotti and Myles Jury in 2019, he was knocked out by Michael Chandler at Bellator 243. Later in 2020, he dropped a decision to Jason Jackson, and after 11 months off dropped a decision to former lightweight champion Brent Primus at Bellator 268.

Mamedov made his promotional debut at Bellator 263 on a 19-fight unbeaten streak. He took a split decision from Primus to get on the board in the promotion in his only fight in 2021.

With the additions, the Bellator 273 lineup includes:
