Video: Is Michael Chandler vs. Tony Ferguson a misstep or on the money?

The UFC is apparently working on booking a summer matchup between lightweight contenders Michael Chandler and Tony Ferguson.

According to Ferguson, he’s was looking for the crucial showdown to take place in May, but claims Chandler is attempting to get more time before returning to the octagon in July. That prompted “El Cucuy” to call out the former three-time Bellator titleholder on social media, to which Chandler offered a fiery reply.

If it comes to fruition, it would be a critical contest for both men. Chandler (22-7 MMA, 1-2 UFC) is coming off back-to-back losses, while Ferguson (25-6 MMA, 15-4 UFC) has dropped three straight. The loser would be facing some tough questions about their career, while the winner would get some footing back in the loaded 155-pound title picture.

Is sacrificing one side to another loss a mistake by the UFC matchmakers, though? Or would propelling one man back to winning form be worth it?

That’s what our panel debated in the latest episode of “Spinning Back Clique,” hosted by John Morgan and with panelists Nolan King, Mike Bohn and George Garcia.
